The Origami House, an architecturally unique residence located in Kutchan, near Niseko, Hokkaido, Japan, recently revealed two new renderings of a feature wooden door pull handle for a glass and aluminum frame entrance door, with a wood slat privacy screen behind the glass.
The Renderings
The new renderings showcase the unique design of the door pull handle, which is inspired by the ancient Japanese art of origami and is a scale ‘model’ of the roof and ceiling design. The handle is made of a single piece of wood that is folded and ‘bent’ to create a dynamic and visually appealing form. The handle is also functional, with beveled edges on the back side where the hand will touch the piece, providing a comfortable and easy grip for opening the door.
The wood slat privacy screen behind the glass adds an additional layer of privacy and visual interest to the entrance of the home. The slats are arranged in a staggered pattern, with the inner layer operable to make the wall completely ‘opaque’, allowing natural light to filter into the home while also providing privacy from the outside world.
